Cybersecurity (CS)

  • can be defined in several different ways, but in general it can be said to be the overall protection of networks from cyber attacks and threats in order to keep information secure.
  • Cybersecurity is still a relatively new field, so it is imperative to respond to current security issues in a timely and correct manner.
  • At MENDELU, cyber security is dealt with by the Odbor informačních technologií (OIT), the CS Committee and the KB Manager.

What is needed for digital safety?

Staying safe online

  • Ignore emails that ask for your password or personal details, be cautious when working with links in emails.
  • Use secure passwords, it is advisable to use a unique password for each service.
  • Do not share your password with anyone.
    • If you discover that you have provided login credentials to attackers, change your password and contact the administrator IT or Helpdesk.
  • Only trust social networking sites with information that you would be willing to make public.
  • Log out of both web services and your computer when you are finished.

Securing your computer and operating system

  • Only install applications from trusted sources.
  • Do not use illegal software.
  • Use a single antivirus program.
  • Do not connect to unknown or unsecured wireless networks.
